The firm now known as Architectural Design West, P.C., (dba: Design West Architects and shortened to Design West) had it's beginnings in 1890 when a European architect named Karl Conrad (KC) Schaub, moved to Logan, Utah with his parents and opened an architectural design office. That historical fact makes the firm the oldest continually operating architectural design firm west of the Mississippi. Mr schaub established the firm upon the philosophy that

“People support that which they help create”.

Mr. Schaub felt that successful architecture required the interaction of talented architects and knowledgeable owners and built his practice around owner involvement in the design process. Design West continues the involved owner philosophy and believes that superior designs are the result of quality service and hard work. Generations of architects have built upon his principles of quality architecture and quality service. Today, Design West is a regional firm organized into two Utah offices in Logan and Salt Lake City and two partnering Offices, Design West in Sacramento, California and Design West in Meridian, Idaho. Based upon the current superior and successful leadership at Design West, the evolution of this 118+ year old legacy and culture will continue for decades to come.
