As part of a multi-million dollar upgrade to facilities district wide, Cache County School District asked Design West to design an innovative alternative high school that accommodates the needs of a smaller student body but also includes many of the same technology and teaching modality enhancements that are incorporated into the larger high schools we are currently building for the District.
The new Cache Alternative High School is 16,000 square feet, includes ten classrooms, a half size gymnasium, office space and support spaces including conference and counseling, reception and workrooms.
The design is compact and organized to allow for secure central point control over the entire facility with limited effort. The exterior design is modern using metal exterior skin, multi-colored CMU and sloped metal roofs to make the building approachable and exciting. The school includes a central gathering area to increase social interaction among students and staff. The main operational goal of the design was cost effective construction and maintenance.
